The ITIL v3 Software Endorsement Scheme assesses vendor software to ensure that it does align to the relevant ITIL v3 processes as claimed. If successful the software is awarded the appropriate scheme logo and the vendor is able to market the software as ITIL v3 Software Endorsement Scheme compliant.
If your organization is considering Service Management software or toolsets that have yet to undertake the ITIL v3 Software Endorsement Scheme, then you and your organization may find value in using the published assessment criteria that is used by the scheme to evaluate the software for yourselves. Each of the questions covered by the assessment is assessed against three topics:
1) If the ITIL content is present in the tool.
2) If process automation is present.
3) If the product documentation explains how to use the point covered in the questions.
