Having developed the ISO/IEC 20000 standard and certification scheme, based upon its knowledge and experiences of ITIL, the information technology Service Management Forum or better known as the itSMF, decided to sell the certification scheme to APMG International for an undisclosed amount in October 2010.
APMG, a certification body operating internationally, decided rather than create our own offering in ISO/IEC 20000 they would acquire the market-leading scheme from itSMF-UK.
APMG International intend to generate interest in this scheme, which should benefit both the organizations that wish to gain accreditation, and the specialist training and certification bodies which offer the scheme.
The itSMF remain involved in the scheme, working collaboratively for five years with APMG International, developing ideas and concepts which could be offered by APMG. In addition the itSMF will receive revenue from APMG based on the success of the scheme.
APMG's aim is to work together to grow the market and extend it through our international network of training organizations.
All certificates issued by itSMF-UK continue to be recognized by APMG International.
